People Fail in Life Because They Do Not Plan
June 28, 2008
Life is growth. For many people life is like a merry go round. They feel life is going to work, paying bills, spend time with family that is it. You must always ask this question. Is this all I want in my life? Are you utilizing your God given potential? You must make a choice of how you want to live your life.
The human mind is so powerful that it can achieve whatever it wants. Past Conditioning does affect your life. Pavlov the Russian Scientist did an experiment with a dog. Every time he rang the bell the dog came to him and he rewarded with the biscuit. After a few days when the dog heard the bell it went straight to him thinking he would get a biscuit. After a week Pavlov found out that the dog would start to salivate as soon as it heard the bell because it was connecting the sound with food. The dog was thinking every time when the bell rings it is going to be fed. So Pavlov had conditioned the dog to expect food when it heard the bell ring. The same applies to human being. You are conditioned to believe that your life is going to be a failure. Every time something happens immediately we say it only happens to me. So change your past conditioning and recondition your mind with positive thoughts to reach your new destination. Look for the positives and dwell on them.
Anam Cara - Life as a Box of Paints

Lonely Song
"a box of paints - lament for my da"
It has been a wonderful morning full of feelings. Feelings arise and feelings go. First there is delight. Then there is sorrow. Then again there is delight. I sit playing guitar in the early morning sunshine and the mail arrives. In the mail is a gift from a friend. On opening this mail I find new delight. I have been sent a magazine and on the back is a love poem.
I treat each of these feelings as a simple movement of energy without judgement.
It is I imagine how children experience the world before they learn to label their feelings. This is the time before they learn to add the labels "good" and "bad" to the free flow of their energy. Whereupon feelings become emotions and emotions become blocked.
I am drawn to lamenting. This word "lamenting" is the root meaning of the phrase "to care." Anyone who cares deeply is by nature a lamenter. I sing songs of lamenting and am often moved to tears. Lamenting is an experience I love. I think in my home country of Ireland it is an experience many are drawn to via our history.
Anam Cara - Watching The River Flow
June 14, 2008
I love rivers. I have for many years lived away from rivers. Yet, when I ever felt unhappy or uninspired I would seek out a pathway along the nearest river to my home.
I have returned home to Ireland following many happy years in England. I am blessed now to live close to the River Shannon near to the first village on the Shannon. This is the village called “Dowra.” In Irish the name is an Damhraith, which translates either as “the black stream” or “the stream of the oxen.”
I live near the source of the Shannon. This is called "Shannon Pot". This place marks the beginning of the longest river in the British Isles. This is a place where the beauty of the land and myth come together. This is a deep place not just symbolized by the deep, dark peaty waters of the pool.
The Shannon Pot is a place of placidity. It reminds me of how I am to move in the world. It reminds me to go placidly amidst this noise and haste of 21st Century living. It reminds me to deepen my connection to this extraordinary flow of energy we call “life.”
You Can Influence Your Fortunes In Life
June 8, 2008
Natural laws exist that serve to maintain order in the universe. These laws are usually manifested as regularity in nature (as in the seasons) or as a relationship between cause and effect. In the physical realm natural laws exist which govern the behaviour of matter. Examples of such laws are Newton’s Laws of Motion. In the social aspect of life, natural laws also exist that regulate human activity. The Law of Demand and Supply is an example of such a law. This phenomenon is also manifested in the spiritual aspect of life. Universal and immutable spiritual laws exist which govern human creative activity.
Observation and experience show the existence of two spiritual laws. These are: The Law of Creative Accomplishment and the Law of Reciprocal Action. Let us now examine these laws.
The Law of Creative Accomplishment
The law provides that success will inevitably crown our efforts if we persevere in our pursuit of a goal and if we have faith in God. In other words, perseverance and faith in God will always lead to success in our pursuits.
The relationship between faith in God, perseverance and success was first made known by Jesus Christ. Hear him on faith in God (Mark 11:20-24):-
Discover Who You Are And Why You Are Here

You are a Creative Worker:
God carries on creative work through human beings. Human beings serve as instrument of transformation of thoughts and ideas from the spiritual state to the physical state. Our mind which is an aspect of the brain mechanism is a creative device which enables us to relate to spiritual as well as physical existence.
Our role in the creative process involves receiving thoughts and ideas which emanate from God into our mind. By means of our mental and physical powers we are able to transform these thoughts and ideas into physical reality. So the human being receives from the spiritual and transforms into the physical. Our function in the creative process can be likened to the function of a television set. The pictures we see on the screen do not originate from the television set. The television set receives signals that are transmitted from a television station and then transforms these signals into observable pictures on the television screen. In the case of the creative process, thinking enables us to tune in to and receive thoughts, ideas and concepts from God. These thoughts, ideas and concepts we are then able to transform into physical (objective) reality by means of our mental and physical powers. To illustrate this process let us consider how a building comes into existence. By thinking, an architect receives ideas and concepts of the design of a building in his mind. By means of his mental and physical abilities he transfers his mental pictures of the design of this building to drawing on paper. A builder, by interpreting this drawing, is able to construct the building thereby bringing it into existence. And so what has come from God as thoughts has eventually become a physical reality.
Humility, Not Pride: Keeping Ice Off Your Bow
May 27, 2008
Tony was a professinoal salt-water fisherman. He explained how he cruised out to sea each morning, coming back each evening with his catch.
"Is there a part of the year you can ‘t go out?" I asked. "The winter–too risky. Below freezing, the spray starts forming ice on the bow. The added weight makes the bow of the boat lie lower in the water. Inexperienced guys fishing in winter have allowed so much ice to build up on the bow that in heavy seas the bow starts to dip beneath the waves. One dip too deep, and she goes down. Only thing to do for it is to grab and ax and knock the ice off once in a while. If you forget and let it build up, you’re dead."
Think of that bow-ice as representing sinful pride. Little by little it builds up until you can’t stay spiritually afloat a moment longer.
Look at the Pharisees. They didn’t intend to be so arrogant. Jesus called them blind because they were unaware they had this problem. But little by little their self-congratulatory attitude expanded their egos until their spirituality was shipwrecked.
We modern believers face a similar challenge. What can we do to knock off the pride weighting us down? Here are a few principles from Scripture.
Little by little, day by day, let’s keep the "ice" off our bows. Disaster awaits anyone who ignores this warning.
To Witness the Life that is God
May 21, 2008
My wife, our friend and I went to listen to a concert in one of the well known Halls in Melbourne. After parking our car two elderly ladies showed us where the entrance was and we began walking toward it. Coming down from a small asphalt slope on the way we suddenly heard an alarming sound behind us, turned around and saw that one of these ladies had fallen heavily. She sustained a deep wound on her forehead and was bleeding. She wanted to see a doctor, her friend and myself helped her up. However, she became pale and could not proceed. We sat her down on some nearby stairs, and she closed her eyes, her body became seemingly lifeless, and I realized that she lost consciousness. An ambulance was called.
A suggestion that came to me first was that she is slipping away. Being a student of divine Science and having a strong desire to help her, the idea that God is our life came into my thought. In Science and Health with key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy I learned that this statement is true of everybody. On page 425 Science and Health says: "Mortal man will be less mortal, when he learns that matter never sustained existence and can never destroy God, who is man’s Life."
Getting Your Feelings Down on Paper
May 14, 2008
Journal Expressions
If you haven’t already done so, please start keeping a journal today. It is one of the most effective ways to hear your own voice. You should not share the information in your journal with anyone. These are your private and innermost sacred thoughts. You should not hold back in any way when expressing yourself within your journal. Let it flow freely, using any language that most accurately conveys your true thoughts. It is incredibly healing and calming to get your thoughts down in written form. Later, you can return to your entries to see how you’ve grown or are handling similar situations differently. The key is in knowing that no one else will ever see your entries.
Paper Journal
Keeping a paper journal offers you the advantage of being able to make entries at any time you feel. You can also express yourself through drawings or sketching as well. I’ve even pasted pictures inside. You’ll notice that you write larger and with a heavier strokes when angry or anxious. While feelings of appreciation and peace will show up differently in your handwriting. All of this is a wealth of great information when looking back on your earlier entries of several months or years ago.
It Seems We Have All Taken a POW
May 11, 2008
Just for a moment think of what is stopping you from living your dream. Is it fear? Is it change? Most people in today’s world have thought that at some point in their spirits evolution that money is the root of all evil. The correct way to look at that is that the love of money is the root of all evil. Money itself is a means to an end.
In order to achieve anything in this world we need resources whether they be friends, information or money. I have always lived my life with the knowing that I am a creator of my reality. I always have plenty, and plenty to share.
When I think of business opportunities I always am thinking of my family, my friends and my community and then that extends out to the world. I would never choose to harm the environment just for the means of another dollar in my pocket. But the things that I do choose are always consistent with my beliefs. What do you believe?
African American Spiritual Health and Healing
May 2, 2008
African-American people are natural caretakers. We do a great job of assisting and loving those around us. However, many of us fall short when it comes to taking good care of ourselves. We expend our energies giving to our kids, our jobs, our partners and others. Then, at the end of the day, we have nothing left for us. If this goes on for too long, we can begin to experience our lives as less than fulfilling.
Recently, more and more of us are becoming dedicated to the idea of putting ourselves first through radical self-care and self-love. If this sounds selfish, it’s only because we’ve been conditioned to value the needs of others over our own. But, consider for a moment that being run-down, exhausted and stressed-out lessens our ability to take care of other people. So taking good care of our selves is actually very unselfish.
Following are some great ways to care for your spirit:
Meditation is an important form of self-knowing and self-loving. It allows us to make contact with the spirit within by listening to our own truth.
