If Youre Eating High Protein Be Informed about Mad Cow

June 5, 2007

Finding Mad Cow in Oregon puts a new wrinkle in the high protein diet, doesn’t it? What’s a person to do that wants to eat more meat, not less?

Are you Eating Less Meat Due to Mad Cow Disease?

Not the people I’ve spoken with. Most are saying, “Yipee, beef’s on sale!” The food industry has done a great job of convincing us they are providing a safe food supply and we’ve been lulled into a false sense of security. Nothing could be further from the truth.

In July 1988, a ban was introduced in the UK which prohibited the use of the remains of sheep in cattle feed. BSE is thought to have spread to cattle from feed including meat and bone meal made from sheep suffering from a similar brain disease, called scrapie.

Ban Not Properly Enforced

Unfortunately the ban was not enforced properly for many years and remained a paper exercise (exactly as it has been in the US ever since).

Bringing Up Baby: Communing With A Humpback Whale

Bringing Up Baby: Communing With A Humpback Whale
 by: Constance Weygandt

Did you ever have a moment in time when you think to yourself, “This is it. This is the moment. Life just can’t get any better.” And then, it does. Such a moment happened to me, last week, while whale watching in Ma’alaea Bay on the Alii Nui.

It was a gorgeous day out on the water. The weather could not have been more perfect and the whale sightings were plentiful. It was a day when total strangers are your friends. We had all shared the experience of seeing these powerful mammals arcing out of the water and diving back in. (This is called breaching.) We had even seen a baby whale heading towards our catamaran until the mother herded her away. I was relaxing against the side of the boat, enjoying the warm breeze and contemplating the perfection of the moment. The activity of the whales had died down and it was almost time to return to the harbor, when Captain Chris yelled, “She’s coming back. The baby’s coming back.”

Russian Kettlebell Workout

June 3, 2007

Russian Kettlebells are amazing! These kettlebell workouts may be the answer to maintaining a home gym or having an expensive club membership.

With Russian kettlebells you can develop superior gains over traditional workout methods and save lots of space in your home.

The man who teaches Russian Kettlebell training is Pavel Tsatsouline. He is a former Spetznaz trainer. For those who may not know, Spetznaz is the Russian equivalent of the CIA or special forces.

As every high-risk agent would wish for, after studying some of Pavel’s books you can definitely find out how to have explosive instant power ready at all times.

But, not everyone is a spy; in fact very few of us are. So what benefits does kettlebell training have for the average woman or man?

Kettlebell training can be a great way to lose weight, tone up the body, and stay in shape once you get it there with the added benefits mentioned above.

And not only that, kettlebell workouts may be better for you than weights. In one of his books, Pavel mentions some of the fitness tests that were used to compare kettlebell training to traditional workouts.

How Can I Find Time For Myself During My Busy Day?

How Can I Find Time For Myself During My Busy Day?
 by: Melissa B. Rayn

Life is hectic. Face it. It seems like, if we’re not actively doing something, then we’re on our way to the next thing. There is laundry to do, dinner to prepare, work piling up on your desk and you’re already late for your son’s soccer practice. How in the world are you supposed to find time for yourself?

Yet at the same time you know that you will be a much better spouse, mother, friend and employee if your life is in balance and you take time to relax and rejuvenate.

Delegate

We are all limited to 24 hours in any given day. Since you can’t get extra time, you need to free up a few hours a day by delegating some of your tasks. Get the kids and your spouse to help out around the house, ask someone else to work out all the details for the church fundraiser this year, and delegate some of your simpler tasks at work to your assistant or if you own your own business, consider outsourcing.

Clothes and Shoes and Stretching

June 1, 2007

Now that we have a trainer, our next concern is to be equipped with the proper shoes and clothes, so our training experience can be maximized. If your trying to create a great body you need to start with clothes and shoes that will make you feel good as well as look good! {The reason behind that is if you look and feel good you will tend to be in a motivated state of mind, and in this state we build consistency, this is where results come from.}

What kind of clothes and shoes do I need you may ask? You could spend a few hundred dollars for designer workout gear and that would make you feel and look better, but all you need is some clean and comfortable clothes and shoes. Most discount stores sell designer replicas at a fraction of the cost. I recommend layering your clothes and as you warm up take a piece of clothing off. Keeping warm helps protect your joints, until you fully warm up, so you don’t get hurt. Now we have the proper equipment to get started.
