Mom, Are You Happy?
 by: Nicole Dean

I’m a new Stay at Home Mom and I’m just miserable. I love my baby, but I miss my career and my co-workers. Going back to work isn’t an option. But, how can I be happy? What can I do?

Signed - Miserable in MO

Dear Miserable,

Making the transition from a busy career woman to a stay at home mom can be quite a struggle, especially if you really enjoyed your job and your co-workers. I’ve been there!

Don’t get me wrong. Being a Stay at home mom is a great job. I’ve been an at home mom for several years and I wouldn’t trade being home with my kids for anything. But, it was hard to adjust to the transition from conversing with adults to talking to a drooling diapered dude all day.

So, how can you go from struggling stay at home mom to a happy one?

Top 10 Reasons To Exercise In The Morning

July 30, 2007

If I had to pick a single factor that I thought

was most important in a successful exercise or

weight loss program, it would be to exercise first

thing in the morning - every morning! Some mornings,

you may just be able to fit in a 10 minute walk,

but it’s important to try to do something every

morning.

So why mornings?…

1. Over 90% of people who exercise *consistently*,

exercisein the morning. If you want to exercise

consistently, odds are in your favor if you exercise

first thing in the morning.

2. When you exercise early in the morning, it

“jump starts” your metabolism and keeps it elevated

for hours, sometimes up to 24 hours! That means

you’re burning more calories all day long just

because you exercised in the morning!

3. When you exercise in the morning you’ll be

*energized* for the day! Personally, I feel

dramatically different on days when I have and

haven’t exercised in the morning.

Overcome the Top 10 Causes of Workplace Stress

July 29, 2007

Workplace stress is on the rise and it’s costing corporate America a fortune. Some estimate that 80% of health care costs are stress related, and these expenses go right to the bottom line.

According to CNN-Money.com, Americans spent more than $17 billion for anti-depressants and anti- anxiety drugs in 2002, up 10% from the year before and nearly 30% over a two year period.

The Institute for Management Excellence reports that American industry spends more than $26 billion each year for medical bills and disability payments with another $10 billion for executive’s lost workdays, hospitalization, and early death.

In addition to these staggering figures, stress takes its toll through the added costs of quality control, legal challenges, lost opportunities, poor performance, bad attitudes, and training.

We cannot do much about the skyrocketing costs of medical care and prescription drugs, but we can take immediate action to control the top ten causes of stress as identified by The Global Business and Economic Roundtable on Addiction and Mental Health.

The countdown is:

Lonely Photos

July 29, 2007

After first seeing my photography, people often try to understand the man behind the lens. “I’ll bet he is…” Lonely. Sad. Depressed. Tortured. Lives alone. About the work itself, it is often quite positive, but about my personal life? Wayne Wirs is invariably… misunderstood.

It is true, that as of this writing, I live alone, but as for the rest - I seem to suffer those burdens far less than most. As a serious spiritual seeker, I naturally had to travel through those dark lands of Sadness, Depression, Loneliness and deep Inner Conflict. These trials I have described in Fading Toward Enlightenment, but those forsaken lands are mostly behind me now. What is it then, that prompts these remarks?

The misunderstanding, it seems to me, is simply a result of perspective. As any artist will tell you, where the artist stands in relation to the subject, their “viewpoint” so to speak, has a tremendous bearing on the aesthetics of the work. My viewpoint, in terms of spiritual growth, is simply on the far side of the darkness that lies within our souls. Simply put, where most see Lonely, I see Solitude. Where most see Isolation, I see Unity.

Know Your Bodybuilding Supplement - L-Tyrosine

July 28, 2007

L-tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid that plays a role in the creation of protein. The body can make it from the amino acid phenylalanine but nutritional sources include animal meats, wheat, oatmeal and seafood.

It performs a multitude of important roles in the body including the alleviation of depression, enhancement of thyroid efficiency, strengthening of the immune system, prevention of neurological degeneration and protection of the skin.

Bodybuilders find it useful for several reasons:

1. It offsets the stress and fatigue associated with intensive training.

2. It helps in the retention of muscular protein.

3. It heightens mental alertness thus helping to offset mental fatigue.

With any amino acid supplement overdosing can lead to weakness and nausea so care should be taken in applying small doses and increasing them gradually until an optimum level is reached. Bear in mind that many protein powders and other supplements are fortified with amino acids so check the labels carefully. The manufacturer’s instructions should be followed in all instances.

Top 10 Points of Encouragement for Weight Loss

July 27, 2007

On the road to weight loss, fitness,

and health, you can easily become

discouraged. In fact, discouragement

is what leads many people to give-up

when they may have been near a point

of significant progress and encouragement

in their program.

I’ve put together my “top 10″ points of

encouragement to help keep your spirits

high on your road to weight loss,

fitness, and health..

1. It does get better - and often very

quickly! Many people that are

significantly overweight or that have

been sedentary for a long time, find any

activity, even walking a few hundred

feet, to be very difficult and

uncomfortable. Be encouraged, many

physiological changes happen very quickly

once you start moving. Walking, for

example, starts getting easier and more

comfortable within a couple of weeks.

Keep moving - every day will be a little

better! Be encouraged!

2. I love this lady’s story. It just

makes you want to cheer for her while

Stress Relief Tips For Free

Stress Relief Tips For Free
 by: Steve Hill

This article gives free tips and advice about how to reduce stress. I am a person who used to stress in a big way. At one point a work colleague made a comment that he thought that I walked around with the weight of the world’s problems on my shoulders. My hair started to turn grey when I was only twenty-one years of age. Things though had to and were about to change.

I realised that the way I was living my life was not only probably unhealthy but was also a very unhappy one. By the age of twenty-two I decided to attempt to change the way I lived my life. I believed that I needed a change of attitude, I was somebody who was extremely negative and the first thing I worked on was trying to become a far more positive thinker.

I then went about reading lots of books about mind over matter and positive thinking. To my surprise, I actually enjoyed reading this material and the lessons I learnt were to change my life forever, in a good way.

A Leopard Changed Its Spots

A Leopard Changed Its Spots
 by: Maria Boomhower

Have you heard the saying, “A Leopard Can’t Change Its Spots”?

What if I told you they were wrong? What if I told you that you can change and that your history is not the main factor in what you want to do, or become even at a biological level.

Advancements in biology and in how we think and function are catching up with people like Napoleon Hill or Maxwell Maltz of whom, told us that the way we think and feel, and that which we focus on will shape our world and the outcome of our lives. We literately become what we focus on most.

Scientists who are studying Stem Cell research challenged the notion that once a cell is programmed to become a particular thing, whether that is an arm, liver or heart, that it will always be that and will not and cannot change. It is in line with what we have been told about the leopard and our own nature and reaction to life.

However, the scientists have taken cells from a liver and introduced them into a heart.

If your sexual tempo is decreased after sunny summer days do not be anxious! This is totally normal. You will find a few recommendations and a special formula for men to overcome these hard days on the next lines.

Oxygen Therapy For Weight Loss?

July 24, 2007

The chemistry sounds very straightforward. Human body fat is a combination of three elements - hydrogen, carbon and oxygen molecules (plus other substances that are stored within the fat cells).

Add extra oxygen to the body fat, and in theory it should break down into two well known substances:

  • Hydrogen & oxygen molecules (H2O - water, which enters the blood stream, goes through the kidneys and is then excreted via urination); &
  • Carbon & oxygen molecules (CO2 - carbon dioxide, which is excreted via respiration).
  • Oxygen or Ozone Therapies are used by a number of alternative medicine practitioners around the world. It is more popular in Europe than in the USA. Practitioners are also found in Canada and Mexico.

Despite being banned in some countries and certainly debunked by large sections of the “conventional” medical profession, there is plenty of evidence that oxygen therapy produces health benefits for many conditions far cheaper, much faster and without the side effects of patent drugs.

Oxygen therapy is usually administered in one of two ways:

  • A facial mask attached to an oxygen tank, so that the patient breaths in oxygen for many hours of the day; or
  • Daily sessions of diluted hydrogen peroxide administered via an intravenous drip.
