3 Kinds of Workplace Stress
July 14, 2007
Workers across America will tell you that stress
levels are increasing. The demand for anti-
depressants is up. Doctor’s visits are
increasing. Stress-related ailments are shooting
up like a rocket.
There are many stressors behind all these
problems, but the gurus generally classify the
stress itself into three categories.
Understanding the major types is the first step to
controlling stress and improving productivity.
1. Acute Stress. This kind of stress is caused
by recent events. It is significant but
temporary. Small doses can result in positive
reactions: the adrenalin rush and feelings of
elation can motivate achievement. Too much, too
often results in headaches, backaches, upset
stomach, and other tension-related responses.
2. Episodic Acute Stress. This type stress is
caused by frequent exposure to stressors. These
people are generally over committed, lack the time
and ability to accomplish everything, and they
often find themselves at odds with coworkers.
This is much more serious than the first kind.
Irritability turns to anger, occasional tension
headaches become frequent migraines, heart
palpitations lead to chest pain, and high anxiety
Know Your Bodybuilding Supplement - L-Taurine
July 14, 2007
Taurine is the second most abundant amino acid in the muscle after glutamine. It performs several useful functions and can act in a way similar to creatine in that it expands cells by helping the muscle to hold more water, thus increasing cell volume. The added benefit for bodybuilders is that these expanded muscle cells boost hydration and stimulate greater protein synthesis giving an enhanced muscle fullness.
The best time for bodybuilders to take taurine is thirty minutes before training and again immediately afterwards as this will heighten the effect of training. With any amino acid supplement overdosing can lead to weakness and nausea so care should be taken in applying small doses and increasing them gradually until an optimum level is reached. Bear in mind that many protein powders and other supplements are fortified with amino acids so check the labels carefully. The manufacturer’s instructions should be followed in all instances.

New Way to Learn Anything Fast

New Way to Learn Anything Fast
by: Evelyn Cole
Most of us learned how to read in school, and we didn’t learn fast. There are two types of learning, traditional and accelerated described below from “Unleashing Your Brilliance” by Brian Walsh, PhD. How did you learn?
First is the TRADITIONAL style.
Rational Left Brain
Mainly auditory
Teacher takes responsibility for outcomes
Material is presented at slow speed
Teacher centered
Uses conscious analytical approach
Not suitable for many learners who have other than auditory and visual learning styles
The second is ACCELERATED
Whole Brain
All sensory modalities involved
Student takes responsibility for outcomes
Material presented at normal, natural speed
Student centered
Engages subconscious processing
All learning styles are stimulated; learning becomes fast, effective and enjoyable
I managed to succeed in school with traditional learning. I did not do so well at home. (My right-handed mother tried to teach me, a leftie, how to sew.) As a result I liked school and eventually became a teacher.
Calcium - The Key To Quick Weight Loss
July 12, 2007
Are you dieting your way to bone loss?
Are you aware that the diet you follow may be depleting your bones of essential nutrients and increasing your chances of developing osteoporosis? Popular diets may promise quick weight loss, but calcium and other important nutrients are often missing from the menu, which can lead to bone loss.
And women who consistently limit what they eat to avoid gaining weight may undermine the health of their bones, according to a study by ARS researchers in California. (1)
The study looked at the eating behavior of women between the ages of 18 and 50 and found that those classified as “restrained eaters” had significantly lower bone mineral density and bone mineral content (key indicators of overall bone strength and health) than women who said they weren’t concerned about what they ate.
“Exercise and eating a well-balanced diet with adequate calcium, are two of the best ways to keep your bones strong and healthy.” advise the researchers.
Calcium is not only good for your bones but can help you maintain a healthy, low fat diet too. There has been increasing media coverage about numerous studies showing that a diet rich in calcium helps reduce body fat.
Why Everyone Over 50 Should be Training for the Senior Games
July 11, 2007
by Phil Campbell, M.S., M.A., FACHE Senior Games participant and author of Ready, Set, GO! Synergy Fitness - 2nd Edition
New biomedical research proves why everyone over age 50 should be training for the Senior Games.
Research discoveries in 2002 show that we can unleash the most powerful body fat-cutting, muscle-toning, anti-aging substance known to science, naturally, with specific types of exercise, and the workouts necessary in training for many of the Senior Games events do the job.
The American Heart Association recently cited research showing that high-intensity exercise can significantly lower the risk of heart disease. Simply, as exercise intensity goes up, the risk of heart disease goes down.
The researchers compared the impact of different levels of exercise intensity on men with an average age of 66. The subjects in the high-intensity exercise group produced a 31 percent risk reduction for heart disease, which was 14 percent better than those who performed less intense exercise.
“The harder one exercises … the lower the risk of heart disease,” says lead researcher Dr. I-Min Lee, associate professor Harvard Medical School.
Anti-aging exercise
Anaerobic exercise (as contrasted with aerobic exercise) involves short, high-intensity sprint training, rather than endurance training.
Beyond Normal - The Liquid Level Of Consciousness
July 10, 2007
I am not enlightened, and yet, I am no longer “normal.” Since you are reading this, I suspect you probably feel the same. Somewhere between the normal, Solid level of consciousness and the transparent, Ethereal level of enlightenment, lies a very fluid, Liquid level of awareness.
Just ahead lies a beautiful glen, a large clearing in the forests of the Soul. This glen is with you wherever you are, it lies just behind your mind, just behind your thoughts, just behind your emotions. This is sacred ground, the source of your true nature. Before proceeding, you must leave your beliefs, your opinions and your Solid ideals behind, for those are the traits of the Ego and the Ego has no business here. In the center of this glen lies a still, mirror lake, a lake that all your thoughts, emotions and dreams arise from. Gaze down into this lake, into the image that stares back in fascination. See the reflection of your true face in all its natural brilliance…
Are you a “Liquid?” Do you experience the following symptoms?
- When you see a tree, do you see living, breathing life, an integral part of something so much more?

Nine Characterisitics of An Enthusiastic Person
by: Ineke Van Lint
Enthusiasm is passion. Enthusiasm is living your dream. Enthusiasm is a divine energy you will feel as a reward for pursuing your dreams and staying on your own path. Someone who is earnestly looking for his mission, discovers it and lives it, will organize his entire life around this divine assignment. This person will offer his talents to the world, betters his environment, adds his personal value to it, and ends up happy and satisfied. The characteristics below help you recognize this person (or become one yourself!) :
1. Enthusiasm is the most obvious feature. This person lives live fully, enjoys every moment, and lives in the present, radiating a lot of self-confidence. He knows he is valid part of the universe and feels appreciated and guided.
2. This person possesses a special driving force that guides her through the roadblocks. He has access to an endless source of energy that lifts him above the masses. His energy level is much higher than average. People can notice he is being lifted up by a kind of light beam. He is very engaged, travels lightly and makes a delicate impression. He is convinced that any roadblocks can be overcome. Nothing stops him.
Top 10 Tips For Finding Time For Exercise
July 9, 2007
If you’re like most people, finding time for
exercise is difficult. Here are my “top 10″
tips to help you in that quest..
1. Make exercise a priority. We all make time
in our lives for the things that are most
important to us. If I told you I’d give you a
million dollars if you exercised everyday for
the next 30 days, would you do it? Sure you
would, because it would suddenly become a
priority. If you’re serious about finding time
for exercise, then it must be a priority in
your life.
2. Block out the same time period everyday
for exercise. This way it becomes part of your
daily routine just like brushing your teeth.
Vehemently guard this time period. It is your
time to take care of yourself.
3. Exercise first thing in the morning. This
is when your exercise time is least likely to
get interrupted by other things.
4. Turn off the television. The average adult
spends 16 hours per week watching television.

Losing Weight is All About Counting Calories/Carbs and Exercising. Or Is It? 5 Tips to Consider When You Want To Lose Fat Forever.
With two thirds of our population overweight (one third in the obese category), watching our weight is no longer something we are doing to look more appealing, or perhaps thinking about doing. It has become a necessary action to prevent disease and increased health costs.
With physical activities being curtailed in schools and backyards and more opportunity to sit in front of televisions, computers and game boys, even our children are joining the ranks of the sedentary lifestyle which promotes an overweight population. Adult diseases are becoming more prominent in children. Adult onset diabetes has been renamed to accommodate all the children who are being diagnosed with it, some as early as in infancy.
So if you have "given up" because counting and exercising hasn’t worked for you, consider the following five tips. Which ones can help you?

Life Coaching Advice For Free
by: Steve Hill
Are you looking to arrange an appointment with a life coach. There are many people who feel they need a boost of self-confidence or self-esteem. In this article I write about some of the advice you may receive at these sessions.
I am one of these people who at many times in my life have felt down and depressed about various issues that I have had in my life. I have worked hard and had a lot of advice about how to deal with these problems and am now far more confident and content with life.
I always wanted to be liked by everyone and found it difficult to say no when invited to say a party, even though in truth I did not want to go. If I did decline an offer, I would feel guilty and if for example a friend asked me why I did not want to go and perhaps even called me boring for not going, I would often end up changing my mind. This would be because I did not want to be known as boring by anybody and also because I was quite a weak and fragile person.
