Approaches to the Treatment of Obesity and A Free Weight Loss Formula
October 31, 2007
The general approach for treatment of obesity is to suggest a low calorie diet and increased physical activity. Ther are many weight loss programmes in the market. Some over-the-counter wellness products are also very popular these days as they claim to produce the results fast. But many of these products are not researched properly and medical community has expressed doubts about their effectiveness in long term.
Many weight loss programmes are based on low carbohydrate diet although its long term effect is not very much different than that of low calorie carbohydrate rich diet, according to a recent research. Low carbohydrate diet produces ketosis which causes low cholesterol levels and reduced body weight. However, there are differences of opinion in medical community as to whether the low carb diet is safe in long run.
Eight Leadership Techniques for Outstanding Teams

Eight Leadership Techniques for Outstanding Teams
by: Ed Sykes
Apply the following eight leadership techniques to create
highly motivated, self-directed, and extremely productive
employees and teams:
1. Provide Clear Expectations
Winning organizations know where they are going and what
is required to get there. Employees constantly need to know
what they need to accomplish. Communicating expectations
in a clear, concise manner is important. It’s also important to
communicate your expectations on an individual,
department, and organizational level. Continue
communicating your expectations on an ongoing basis.
Whether one-on-one, through memos, or in a team meeting,
keep communicating your expectations.
2. Give Your Employees the Tools for Success
New computers are acquired, but no training is provided for
the computers; or worse, the training doesn’t meet the need
of the employees to be successful. The policies are not
implemented or followed, so employees are hindered by
barriers. Time and time again I hear from employees in my
workshops that management doesn’t give them the
necessary tools for success. Here’s the secret: Ask your
employees what they need, and then give it to them.
7 Tips to Relieve Stress At Work
October 29, 2007
Do you feel stress at work? Do you carry your stress home with you at night?
Here are some tips that will help you achieve success over stress. You can reduce stress on the job.
1. When making phone calls, as you pick up the phone and dial, take three slow deep breaths. Concentrate on pushing tension out of your lungs as you exhale.
2. Sit down to eat. (Do not eat while standing or driving in your car) Focus on relaxing and enjoyable talk at lunchtime. If co-workers only insist on rehashing all of the negative stuff at work, insist on eating alone.
3. When you drive your car to your business or your job, listen to something enjoyable or motivating.
4. On the way home from your business or your job, listen to enjoyable or relaxing music.
5. Take a few minutes each day to thank God, in whatever form is consistent with your belief system, for the glorious sunrise. At sunset, do the same. If you are at work while the sun is setting, take a quick break to watch the sun set and again, thank your concept of “God” for the glorious sunset.
Oh, God. What Do I Do Now?
October 28, 2007
Uh, oh. I’m in trouble now. I found God. Now what do I do with Him?
It’s not like I can just ask Him to go sit in a corner while I go on about my life. He’s kind of hard to ignore. And while he seems kindly enough, and a whole lot more patient than I am when bumping up against the obstacles in my life, just knowing He’s there makes me squirm.
Once I thought it would be cool to know Him. You know, like hanging out together. Maybe even throwing down a couple of cold ones while we shot the bull. In some regards, I think it can still be like that. But He’s like, so, well, unusual that people are starting to look at me like I’m weird.
Did you ever walk into a room and know all eyes were watching your every move? Now imagine it was because you came in with someone who looked so good that you felt like an ugly duckling by comparison. And you knew they just wondered, "Why in the world is he/she hanging out with that geek?"
An Incredible New Weight Loss Product ? Your Brain!
October 27, 2007
I would like to introduce you to an incredible new weight loss product: Your brain?
I discovered this technique for weight loss many, many years ago from a great New Thought teacher. When I posted it on a business forum last year, a member publicly thanked me for her weight loss a short time later.
I hope some of you will accept this and give it a try also.
To lose weight, here is a technique to use. As you drop off to sleep, repeat over and over again to your subconscious mind, your ideal weight (or your goal weight). For example, just repeat as you fall asleep, when your mind is most receptive to suggestion: 140 pounds?140 pounds?140 pounds. In the waking state, an affirmation might be: “I weigh 140 pounds in divine order” or something similar. You will be conditioning your subconscious mind to accept your goal weight and it will compulsively guide you to do everything necessary to accomplish that result.
New Treatment for Chronic Depression

Vagus Nerve Stimulation for Chronic Treatment-Resistant Depression
About Vagus Nerve Stimulation
VNS is not brain surgery, although it is a treatment that affects the function of the brain. Vagus Nerve Stimulation uses specific stimulation of the vagus nerve to send stimulation to specific parts of the brain that are involved in mood. It is not like Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT), a treatment that involves stimulation of the entire brain and induces convulsions in patients. In fact, patients may not even feel the stimulation from VNS since the vagus nerve does not have the type of nerves that carry pain signals. Nor does VNS interfere with drugs, and patients having Vagus Nerve Stimulation can continue taking their other drugs without worrying about side effects or interactions between drugs.
On June 15th, the FDA’s Neurological Advisory Panel recommended APPROVAL of the vagus nerve stimulator as a treatment for chronic depression.
What is the Vagus Nerve ?
Create Your Own Fitness Center with Home Exercise Equipment!
October 26, 2007
If joining a fitness center is not for you, and you’re not the outdoors-y type, home exercise equipment is a smart choice for staying fit. Before you buy, you should do your homework in order to prevent your new exercise machine from becoming an over-sized clothes hanger.
Before you spend your money, first consider your current exercise routine (if any). Variety in an exercise plan tends to keep you from getting bored and provides a good route to overall fitness. With this in mind, consider a fitness machine that provides a different type of benefit to what you are already doing or plan to do.
For example, if you walk 3 times a week, you may want to consider home exercise equipment that offers resistance training, such as a home gym.
Be wary of “fad” equipment and always check for a warranty. Anything that sounds too good to be true, usually is. You want to try to find home exercise equipment that works your whole body or major portions of your body for the best results.
Decide where your home exercise equipment will be located in your home and take measurements. You want to be sure the machine you are considering will fit the space you have available.

Resolutions For New Years - Let’s Change The World
by: Terry Vermeylen
We are all human. Be it short, tall, white, black, poor, rich, angry or sad, we all have bodies, minds and hearts. We all feel. We are all capable of love, hate, envy, joy, sadness and compassion. As you see, we share many remarkable common bonds. Another astounding bond is this big beautiful planet we all live on. It is home to all of us. We use its water, farm its land, climb its mountains and walk its woods.
When the tsunami of December 26th smashed into our lives, and the images of huge ocean waves sweeping away villages and people entered our living rooms, our egos quickly fled and we realized how frightfully frail and precious life is. Many of us opened our wallets and hearts, trying our best to help people thousands of miles away. These fellow humans had a different culture, skin colour and religious belief. We never met these fellow humans and probably never will. Yet as the news of the tsunami invaded our comfortable living rooms our differences didn’t matter. The heart pounding images of Mother Nature wiping out entire villages with horrific ease made us drop our petty problems. At that moment we shared the realization that sometimes life just isn’t fair. Sometimes life is hard. Sometimes life is brutal. At that moment our hearts were enveloped in horror, sadness and finally compassion.
Know Your Bodybuilding Supplement - HMB
October 24, 2007
HMB stands for beta-hydroxy beta-methylbutyrate. It is a metabolite of leucine, one of the body’s essential amino acids, with small amounts found naturally in catfish, grapefruit and alfalfa.
It has become very popular amongst athletes in recent years mainly due to the role it plays in the synthesis of muscle tissue. HMB has been subjected to many studies that have reached some interesting conclusions. One study showed that supplementation with 3 grams of HMB per day increased participants’ strength by a factor of three compared with placebo takers. Supplementing with the same amount also saw a reduction in bad cholesterol compared with the placebo group.
Clearly there is significant scientific backing for claims that HMB can speed up muscle growth, strength, endurance and fat loss. There are no known side effects when taken properly in amounts ranging from 3-5 grams each day. It should be taken before training or at bed time for best results.

Making New Friends Can Be Extremely Satisfying For Retirees!
by: Cynthia Barnett
After retiring, you may find yourself needing to make new friends. Perhaps your other friends are still employed or maybe you simply want to find new friends with whom you can share this wonderful new experience. Whatever, the reason may be, making new friends after retirement can be a blast and doesn’t have to be a scary or frustrating process. In this brief but informative article, we will discuss five proven tips that you can use today to make new friends. So, sit back, relax, grab a cup of coffee and get ready to learn.
1. Desire to meet new people. First and foremost, you must have the desire to meet new friends. If you are happy with the friends that you already have and they seem to meet all of your companionship needs, you may not be motivated to meet new people. Instead, you may feel comfortable and not ready to venture out into meeting new people. If however you truly believe in your heart and soul that this is a great time to meet new people and you’re open and receptive to meeting them then you’ll be very successful in your friend quest. For those of you that aren’t sure, just remember that making new friend takes absolutely nothing away from your current friendships and may in some ways enhance them.
