Improving How You Speak In Public
by: James Masterson
Feeling less confident when speaking in public? Here are some tips to boost your confidence in public speaking.
Tip no. 1. You should have eye contact with the audience all the time.
Tip no. 2. You should just relax. You know now by heart what you intend to say. Just do it.
Tip no. 3. If you can, use visual aids. This could help the people listening to you understand more of what you want to say. They get your concepts in an instant. Keep your visual aids simple. If, for example, you don’t have the visual, then just remember to use words that would describe succinctly your point.
Tip no. 4. Why not give handouts to the audience? This would serve as their copy of your speech or at least the points you are tackling. They would feel that you gave them something that is free. Be simple and clear on what you say in the handout. Too many words and technical research could turn people off.
Tip no. 5. Do not think of how you can survive the speech, but on how you can do your speech brilliantly.
Introduction to Manifestation

Introduction to Manifestation
by: Krzysztof Sroka
Have you ever thought who you are? Are you the body you see every day in a mirror? Of course you are not. Your body is constantly changing. It is different now than ten or twenty years ago. According to some scientists cells in our bodies are constantly replaced by the new ones. Although the scientists differ in their opinions, most of them agree that every seven years we have a completely new body. Not even one cell is the same.
Anyway, most people intuitionally feel that they are not their bodies. When someone dies they say he has left. So, what has left? The body it’s still there.
Are you your mind? You can observe your own mind. You can notice what you are thinking about now. Maybe you are reading this article now, but you are thinking about something else? Doesn’t it happen often? You can observe how your mind works, so you are not your mind.
But most of the time we don’t observe it. It’s just the opposite, our minds constantly play different films in front of us, and it is not easy to stop them doing it.
Review of the Changing Protein Requirements for Seniors
December 30, 2007
Youth, it is said, is wasted on the young. Too busy figuring life they hardly take the time to enjoy it. Fortunately, with medical research and scientific progress, lifespans have doubled over the last century. We can now start life at fifty and have another go at youth. Health consciousness, appropriate diet and exercise, can make the later years of life a pleasant experience. Dietary principles play as especially important role in this regard. Compensating for the physiological changes of aging, they can give us better odds at achieving our genetically determined lifespans.
The advancing years experience a complex interplay of changes affecting the mind, body, and the environment. Alterations in organs systems and cellular function can often predispose to malnutrition and a host of chronic illnesses (Servan 1999). Some of these problems can be attributed to the decrease in the total protein content and are in themselves preventable with appropriate attention to the protein content of the diet.
A decrease in protein turnover, such as that seen in aging, has far reaching effects (Chernoff 2004). Vital organ systems like the heart and lungs slow down, becoming incapable of further exertion. Neural processes like thought, planning and cognition are also affected. The immune system becomes weak, exhibiting a delay and difficultly in dealing with infections (Thompson 1987). Wound healing and repair, which requires a constant supply of amino acids, is also compromised.

Use these tips to turbo charge your weight loss program.
Take it one pound at a time:
Don’t get overwhelmed by how much weight you need to lose. Just take baby steps in the right direction and you’ll be amazed at your progress when you look back. You didn’t gain your weight overnight, so it will take time to lose it all.
Weekly weigh in:
Only measure your results and weigh yourself once a week to give your body time to make adjustments.
Share your journey:
Find a friend to lose weight with and become each other’s coach. Check in several times a week to help each other stay on track.
The scale is not the final word:
Don’t get discouraged when your progress seems to be slow according to your bathroom scale. Instead, measure your results with a tape measure-it will give you much more reliable and encouraging feedback.
Shop when you’re full:
Only shop for food when you are not hungry to avoid buying foods you may regret later.
Set reachable goals:
Animal Spirit Guides & Totems
December 28, 2007
Animal spirit totems can be viewed in different ways according to each of us as individual people. The basic principle of an animal totem is an animal spirit who gives us insight into ourselves, a glimpse of the divine powers at work in our world, and can transcend us to a place of healing for ourselves and other people.
The author of Animal-Speak, Ted Andrews defines animal totems as such: “Any natural object, animal, or being whose phenomena and energy you feel closely associated with during your life”. A totem is considered to be a power, also called ‘medicine’ and is capable of walking down our path with us on our spiritual and personal journey in this lifetime. We can tap into the energies of the animal totems for strength, healing for ouselves, and for others. Higher level beings along with Spirit Guides can shapeshift, transforming their energy bodies into animals and sending us important messages that will guide us along and teach us what we need to know.
Prepositions Tell Relationship

Prepositions Tell Relationship
by: Jeanie Marshall
While I do not recall all the grammar I learned in school, I do remember that the preposition was viewed as a lowly part of speech. I personally think that it is a very important part of speech because it shows relationship.
In more recent times, I have often been faced with several games that trainers play to further reinforce the unimportance of the preposition. One game is a neatly-typed paragraph on an overhead slide with “of” at the end of one line and repeated at the beginning of the next line, with the question coming from the trainer, “what’s wrong with this paragraph?” Another game also includes a paragraph, with the trainer asking how many words are in the paragraph, hoping that most people will skip over most or all the prepositions.
Well, I write a lot. And I have to tell you that I often try multiple prepositions to find just the right one to convey my meaning. In a Guided Meditation CD (”Confidence of Feeling Good”) that I recently produced, I played with prepositions to guide listeners to focus on their breath. Here’s an excerpt:

Know How To Overcome Depression
by: Robert Thatcher
There are times in a person’s life where loneliness and lack of contentment is experienced. Depression is a state where an individual feels bored and sad. This feeling can be disturbing especially when a person seems so low and cannot overcome the obstacles that he is experiencing.
Many have thought that this emotional problem is not that serious to worry about. Studies have proven that this state of depression can be an illness and must be treated. Some depressed people may go to a physician for check up and consultation. It could be more advisable if the person would see a therapist.
Most depression therapists are very good in finding the reason why a person became depressed. The process in which a therapist treats depression is through emotional and psychological approach. On the other hand, a doctor will recommend patients to take anti depressant medicines. There are instances that have happened where a doctor treating a patient for depression was involved in such controversies where improper medications were applied.
Online Weight Loss - Fact or Farce?
December 25, 2007
Over the past 5 years, online weight loss programs have become increasingly popular. One such Internet-only weight loss program claims to have over 1.2 million members in it’s database. We are seeing more and more companies creating an Internet presence to assist with weight loss.
Is it a money grab, or can an Internet-based program genuinely help you? How can sitting at the computer help you to lose weight? How can we trust the information being provided to us? Let’s try and answer some of those questions.
Money-making or Real Help?
A study conducted by the Brown Medical School provides some interesting results. They compared the results of 2 groups of overweight people over a period of 6 months. Both groups were trying to lose weight. One group was subscribed into a structured Web and email based program - whilst the other group was simply given a number of Internet links to weight loss information.
Participants who were given a structured behavioral treatment program with weekly contact and individualized feedback had better weight loss compared with those given links to educational Web sites. The study concluded that “the Internet and e-mail appear to be viable methods for delivery of structured behavioral weight loss programs.”
The New Lover Approach to Starting an Exercise Program

Approach a New Exercise Program Like a New Lover
How many times have you decided to get back to some type of exercise program? You’ve bought gear, new shoes, new clothes, whatever is needed. You’ve set aside some time, and off you go. A nice heart pounding workout or two and wham, you’re right back to the couch, watching TV and thinking about starting an exercise program. What went wrong?
Nine times out of 10 what happened was you simply tried to do too much too soon. It’s just like dating. If you met someone you liked and wanted them to like you too, what would happen if you started calling them multiple times every day, leaving clever messages on their answering machine, and buying them cute gifts and cards. How might they react to being smothered with affection. It’s an almost guaranteed way to drive that once interested suitor into performing a disappearing act.
