Do Nothing!

Do Nothing!
by: Hifzur Rehman
Do nothing! Yes I mean it. But only for five to seven minutes a day during working hours.
You are born to work and working is a fun activity for the successful people of the world. I am giving you the “do nothing” advice in order to keep you working and working at your full potential without being depressed or tired.
During the mid-day sit down on a comfortable chair in a very loose and relaxed position. Your whole body, from head to toe, should feel comfortable. Switch off the telephone and TV. Cut off yourself completely from the outside world for a few minutes. No talking, no listening, no reading, no thinking, and no eating. Close your eyes, breathe slowly and go into deep relaxation. Pretend as if you are a dead person who has nothing to do and nothing to worry about. Be a part of the silent world.
I want to tell you, without going into lengthy details, that this short “do nothing” break would have magical effects on your mind and body. This practice not only relaxes your inner and outer muscles but also gives you the vital energy sufficient enough to keep you working for another couple of hours!
Adult Men and Women Who Suffer From Chronic Depression
June 12, 2008
Market surveys on women, men and depression suggest an estimated 4.4 million Americans are believed to suffer from chronic treatment-resistant depression. Depression is a chronic, disabling disorder and a major worldwide public health problem. Depressive episodes usually recur over time, with risk for further episodes proportional to the number of prior episodes. After three major depressive episodes, the probability of recurrence is 90%. In the U.S. alone, approximately 18 million people suffer from depression over six million of which are receiving some form of medical treatment.
Market studies on women, men and depression also estimate that over 100,000 Americans each year are treated with electro convulsive therapy (ECT) for their depression. Roughly 15% of all people with severe depression that require hospitalization commit suicide. Disorders related to men and depression are also very expensive. Depression is ranked as the second leading cause of disability worldwide in 1990. Depression costs in the U.S. alone are estimated to exceed $50 billion annually, including over $12 billion in direct treatment costs. The total market in the U.S. for anti-depressants is estimated to exceed $6 billion.
Staying In Bed Can Cause Insomnia

Staying In Bed Can Cause Insomnia
by: Brandon C. Hall
It would seem ridiculous to suggest that the reason you can’t fall asleep is because you are in bed. As preposterous as this sounds, it can actually be the case. When a person is suffering from insomnia, and they continue to stay in bed, the problem can actually worsen.
It’s happened to most people at least once in their lives. They feel tired in the evening, so they decide to go to bed. Once there they find that sleep is hard to find. Minutes turn into hours and then before they realize it they have been in bed for three or four hours without even a moment of sleep.
Insomnia is a common problem and although there are many medical ways to treat it, the answer might be found in getting out of bed.
Sleep is of course fundamental to a human being’s existence and if we feel that we aren’t getting enough it can create a great deal of stress and unhappiness. To counteract that we sometimes go to bed before we feel tired. The idea being that once we are in bed, in the peaceful darkness, our body will natural take the hint and drift off. This is especially true if we have to wake up early or we have something stressful to tackle the next day, such as beginning a new job or starting school.
Secrets of Meditation For Better Health
June 10, 2008
Meditation can improve your health, increase energy levels and maximize your enjoyment of life. Without a doubt, more people would benefit from meditation if they took the time to practice the simple exercises used to calm the mind, reduce stress and increase energy levels.
So What Is Meditation?
Meditation is a way to transform and heal ourselves. When we meditate, we allow the swirl of ideas and thoughts to slow down to the point where we find a calm and positive connection with ourselves. Although there are many different ways to meditate, all styles teach the directing of the attention in order to re-connect with the part of yourself that is most real and most true.
Why We Need To Meditate
Unfortunately, we do not walk through the world as children do. We all face difficult and stressful situations throughout the course of life. But rather than beginning each day afresh, we tend to gather the world and carry the negativity of the past with us. The happy and contented person you were becomes covered over by these emotions. Suddenly you feel unhappy and dissatisfied, and even worse; often the process is so subtle, you don’t know why.

The holidays are definitely a special time of year. These days, however, many women wonder whether “special” means happy — or stressful. Do you know anyone who doesn’t feel more stress during the holiday season? One thing is for sure: Stress is a six-letter word that can spell added trouble for many women who struggle with food, eating and weight.
A national survey of women conducted earlier this year revealed that women see stress and lack of energy as two of their top health issues. But here’s where it gets interesting: Women were twice as likely as men to snack as a way of dealing with stress!
So how do you enjoy the famous holiday party time that seems to start with coffee breaks at work or weekend brunches and last through dessert parties late in the evening without overdoing on all those wonderful foods? Here’s a list of ideas to consider that can help reduce holiday stress, boost energy and maximize your ability to make smart choices to support you in your efforts to feel well and stay healthy.

How To Develop Your Own Personal Mission Statement
by: Dana Goldberg
Your personal development and motivation is the key to a successful and happy life. If you want to feel fulfilled from day to day then you need to know what makes you tick and how to get it. You need to be able to meet your goals and even exceed them and with a personal mission statement you will be that much closer to being in the position to do so.
Even businesses are getting in on these mission statements. They are a great way to make it known to yourself and others just where you want to be and what your goals really are. When you know your goal you can be constantly working towards them. If you simply bumble through life you will not stay on course with the same amount of steady ease. Everyone can benefit from a mission statement and if you want to get where you are going you will start writing your own today.
You Can Influence Your Fortunes In Life
June 8, 2008
Natural laws exist that serve to maintain order in the universe. These laws are usually manifested as regularity in nature (as in the seasons) or as a relationship between cause and effect. In the physical realm natural laws exist which govern the behaviour of matter. Examples of such laws are Newton’s Laws of Motion. In the social aspect of life, natural laws also exist that regulate human activity. The Law of Demand and Supply is an example of such a law. This phenomenon is also manifested in the spiritual aspect of life. Universal and immutable spiritual laws exist which govern human creative activity.
Observation and experience show the existence of two spiritual laws. These are: The Law of Creative Accomplishment and the Law of Reciprocal Action. Let us now examine these laws.
The Law of Creative Accomplishment
The law provides that success will inevitably crown our efforts if we persevere in our pursuit of a goal and if we have faith in God. In other words, perseverance and faith in God will always lead to success in our pursuits.
The relationship between faith in God, perseverance and success was first made known by Jesus Christ. Hear him on faith in God (Mark 11:20-24):-
How To Stress Less and Smile More-The Six Fundamental Steps To Improved Health
June 7, 2008
More than two-thirds of visits to doctors’ surgeries are for stress-related illnesses. Stress has been linked to headaches, backaches, insomnia, anger, cramps, elevated blood pressure, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and lowered resistance to infection.
For women, stress is a key factor in hormonal imbalances resulting in menstrual irregularities, PMS, fibroids, endometriosis and fertility problems. Stress can also be a factor in the development of almost all disease states, including cancer and heart disease; the leading cause of death in Australian women.
In most cases stress is a result of letting life get out of balance. This happens when we put all our energy into only one or two areas of our life (usually work) and ignore the rest. We take on too much, over-promise, don’t delegate and push our own wants and needs into the background by always looking after others needs first. We overload ourselves to the point where we are forced to stop attending to what is important to us, such as time for our interests and time to spend with our families.
If stress is a major issue for you there are steps you can take to restore balance to your life - so you can stress less and smile more.
People Walking: How Some People Enjoy Their Exercise Walking
June 6, 2008
People walking regularly for exercise often walk for more than just that. They are those who have found their sweet spot in walking.
When exercise begins to feel more like enjoyment, you can bet the person who walks will sustain the program against all odds — and lose weight successfully.
It’s such an obvious thing to make your walking exercise enjoyable for greater motivation. Yet so many people walking go out of their way to make it feel like a chore, if only to feel as if they are doing a mighty lot for weight reduction.
How do you add variety and fun? Here are some suggestions that have come to me from persisting "walkers":
* Walk with a friend
* Pick nice destinations or road loops
* Walk at sunrise or sunset ?- enjoy the view
* Walk at busy hour if you love looking at people
* Have fun building a "walking wardrobe"
* Wear a pedometer for the thrill of it
* Walk in a totally new neighborhood
* Take the postman’s beat, or the policeman’s beat
* Walk along the shoreline
