Two Words That Guarantee Success (or failure) When Planning To Lose Weight

September 21, 2008

Did you know that being successful with losing weight starts with just two words?

Two words will either guarantee you’ll lose weight, or guarantee the you WON’T lose weight.

You see, words are very powerful. Especially the words that we say to ourselves… our self-talk.

Whatever we say to ourselves goes directly to our subconscious and is accepted as complete truth.

Did you catch that?

Whatever you say to yourself or others is accepted as a complete truth to your subconscious mind.

How do you describe yourself?

Do you see yourself as healthy, slim and energetic?

Or do you see yourself as heavy and overweight?

Do you tell yourself (or complain to others) that “you can’t” lose weight?

If you say to yourself….

“I am fat” … your mind says OK, you’re fat and gets to work in the background on taking actions that make (and keep) you fat.

or

“I am healthy and slim”… your mind says, OK, and gets to work in the background on taking actions that make (and keep) you healthy and slim.

10 Symptoms of Workplace Stress

September 21, 2008

It is no secret that stress and related disorders are the most frequent cause of employee disability (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health). As far back as 1992, a United Nations report called job stress a “world wide epidemic.

Control of workplace stress is a leadership responsibility. Good leaders who recognize the symptoms of stress can control situations to create more desirable workplaces and to improve both productivity and the bottom line.

Corporate leaders who have served in the military recognize employee stress when they observe symptoms such as:

1 Anxiety

2 Indecisiveness

3 Irritability

4 Complaining

5 Forgetfulness

6 Loss of self confidence

7 Argumentativeness

8 Insomnia

9 Rapid emotional shifts

10 Physical exhaustion

Symptoms such as these cost companies billions of dollars each year in health care costs, absenteeism, accidents, quality control, personnel turnover, and various interpersonal relationship problems.

Some managers mistakenly try to control stressful problems by increasing demands and supervising details. Increased urgency and focus on details typically generates even more stress. The problems shift from slight distractions, such as back pain, headaches, and inattention, to more drastic reactions such as absenteeism and medical problems, both good indicators that stress levels need attention.

After Exercise Headache - More Serious Than You Think?

September 20, 2008

It’s surprisingly common - you’re exercising, everything’s fine, and then POW - a headache strikes! Or, sometimes, a headache hits while you’re exercising. Is it just a minor annoyance? Or could it be a signal that something serious is going on? Should you go to the doctor, or just shrug it off?

If you already suffer from headaches or migraine, it may just be that your exercise is starting the headache chain-reaction. In that case, it’s important to look at the overall picture and make sure you’re getting the treatment you need for headaches. Your doctor may recommend a pain killer to take just before you exercise, to stop the pain before it starts. In the case of migraine, this is called an “effort migraine”, and it’s very common. A throbbing headache in the back of your head may be an “exertion headache”, which again usually requires some pain killers and is not serious.

But after exercise headache can be a warning that something serious is going on. As a general rule of thumb, if you get a new headache after you exercise, you should see a doctor right away. Any sudden change when it comes to headache could be a sign of something serious, so don’t wait.

Going Where Youve Never Gone Before

September 19, 2008

One of the first issues people on the spiritual path have to address is a doctrinal one: Is it wrong to ask questions that I’ve never asked before? Is asking questions about the truth we’ve been taught “sinful?” Your answer can have a dramatic effect on your ability to explore who you are and what you believe in without guilt!

If anyone has ever told you that the path to spiritual self-awareness (defined in it’s simplest terms as “knowing who you are and what you believe in, and letting those beliefs be the driving force in your life”) is an easy one, they were being less than honest!

Finding your own truth in these times of confusion and change is no small undertaking, and it isn’t surprising that many people begin the journey full of hope and enthusiasm, but - as each step becomes even more difficult because it requires even more honestly with yourself and with others - they begin to lose courage. They find a comfortable plateau - a point in their lives where things are better than they used to be - and they decide that staying where they are might not be such a bad option. Why seek the infinite potential within yourself if you’ve found a self you’re comfortable with already?

5 Tips for Surviving and Unfair Boss

5 Tips for Surviving and Unfair Boss
 by: Gary Mosher

Every job has stress, but the workplace environment can seem almost unbearable when working for an over-demanding or unfair boss. You don’t have to like your boss, but you do need to be able to co-exist and co-operate with him for you to be productive and successful at your job.

Other than a change taking place, as I discussed in the article ‘Unhappy at Work? A Change is Coming,’ there is no perfect solution for dealing with a difficult boss, but here are five suggestions that might make your situation a little less painful.

#1) Think of your boss as a parent and you as his teenage child.

This sounds silly at first, but the relationship between you and your boss is very similar to that between a parent and child. Teenagers often have problems with authority and experience disagreements with their parents. Meanwhile, parents often create rules the child believes to be unfair. If the situation gets bad enough, as soon as the child is old enough he finds a way to move out and make it on his own. Parents aren’t perfect and neither are bosses - both will make mistakes.

10 Easy to follow Tips to help YOU Lose Weight

September 17, 2008

Dieting is not easy. If it were, we would probably all be thin. Since we are not, here are some tips that successful people use to lose weight so that others can benefit, too.

SUCCESS TIP NO. 1: DRINK 8-10 GLASSES OF WATER EACH DAY

Okay, for many people this is a big problem. Water doesn’t taste all that great generally because water doesn’t really "taste" like anything. Drinking water 8 to 10 times each day gets easier the more you actually do it. It is simply a matter of conditioning your taste buds, and yourself, so that it becomes easier to do. Once you get started, you will begin to crave water.

To begin with, you should drink a glass of water in the morning first thing, before you eat. This is probably the easiest glass you will drink all day and it will help you remember to drink water all day long. Better yet, why not drink two glasses?

If you really cannot bear the taste of water, try using a water purifying pitcher or filter. You can also add a few drops of lemon or lime to your water ? but no sugar or sweetener! Ice also helps.

Create More Magic!

Create More Magic!
 by: Dawn Quesnel, “Coach DQ”

Create more magic by linking time management to intentions!

Last month we explored creating more of what you want by defining and setting an intention to simply create more of it in your life. How is it working for you?

One of the ways to bring positive change into your life and work is to create synergy between your intentions and your actions. They meet up through planning and time management. As you may be aware, spending just fifteen minutes at the end of the day reviewing and planning can save up to 2 hours in wasted time the next day. That is an eightfold return on investment!

When you add 10 minutes in the morning to check in with yourself to review your intention, goals and finalize your ‘to do’ list; you multiple your impact again. Here is this month’s challenge:

Give yourself this 25 minutes each day, 10 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes at night. Use this time to focus on what is most important to you by asking yourself the following questions:

Know Your Muscles - The Mid-Section

September 16, 2008

Becoming familiar with the muscles that make up your body has more benefits than simply allowing you to talk shop with your training partners. The more familiar you are with the muscles you’re working, the better you’ll be able to judge what’s needed to make improvements. In this article we’ll get to know the muscles that make up the mid-section.

The core muscles of the mid-section do much to stabilize and support the torso so it’s well worth spending time to train this area properly. The main muscles of the mid-section are as follows:

1. Rectus abdominis - this is a large flat muscle wall that covers most of the front mid-section from the lower chest to the pubic bone. Above the navel it consists of three pairs of rectangular sections stacked on top of each other and is better known as the six pack.

2. Obliquus abdominis - this muscle runs diagonally along the side of the mid-section from the lower ribcage to the pubic area. There are two muscles on each side, with internal obliques lying underneath the external obliques. The obliques help your torso to flex to the side, twist at the waist and help in bending the torso forwards.

Motivation

Motivation
 by: S.Anand Natraj

One of the important aspects in our life is motivation; we tend to loose our energy for many reasons quickly. Lack of energy diminishes efficiency, affects productivity, creates frustration, develops stress, makes you short temper and ends up with depression; all these affect both personal & professional life.

So, what is motivation?

Motivation is a force which drives character to overcome conflicts or is a set of forces that cause people to behave in a certain way.

Why Motivation?

I’ve specified answer for this in the start of the article, anyway we need to be motivated to consistently perform well at work, develop a better relationship with parents, siblings, friends, wife etc.

How can we be motivated?

I cannot answer to this question specifically because motivation differs from person to person. What motivates one person may only make another person angry. So, we have to understand what makes us motivated & do things that make us motivated. If you are a good reader read biographies of personalities who have made it big, watch our inspiring & motivating songs/movies. Always be optimistic, move with positive minded people.

Bone Box of the Rich and Famous

September 14, 2008

The contrast between the two men could not have been more striking. Caiaphas, the high priest, was among the rich and famous, arguably the most powerful Jew alive in A.D. 30. He had married into the high priest’s family and now was himself high priest for a year by Roman appointment. With a PhD-level rabbinic education, Caiaphas was urbane and sophisticated.

His counterpart was said to be a craftsman from a hick town in the Galilee who some three years before had quit his job to take up preaching. He had no powerful connections; his popularity might be as fleeting as that of any of the other messianic pretenders succeeding each other year by year. Yet his miracles did arrest one’s attention, and this latest one was outstanding. He had raised a dead man back to life in a suburb of Jerusalem where it could be witnessed by many from the Holy City–respected men whose testimony could not easily be set aside.
