Snowflakes

December 31, 2008

The human race had their beginning, and I had mine ? in this lifetime, anyway.

Growing up in a cultural melting pot like Chicago set a great foundation for my different drummer to build on. I grew up in a town with six million people; every one of them was different from the next.

It became obvious to me, early on, that thinking, feeling human beings are as different as snowflakes. No two snowflakes are alike. No two people are alike, either. Not even identical twins, or soul mates.

We’re all very similar, in spite of obvious differences. The human race has plenty of sub-races to choose from, in every shape and color imaginable.

Our shape and color has a lot to do with being different, even from other people who are the same shape and color as we are. What shape and color we are affects us all in different ways; the different ways we think and feel about our shape and color is one of the things that makes everybody different.

Which Way to The Top?

Which Way to The Top?
 by: Arthur Buchanan

Can I get to the top? Is there really a place for me at the top?

How much room is there?

Will I fit in?

What will I wear?

Settle down we first need to put you in a position to where you can at least see the top.

(PLEASE KNOW THAT IT’S NOT THAT FAR AWAY AND YOU CAN GET THERE AND THAT IS NOT A FIGMENT OF YOUR IMAGINATION)

Then you can decide for yourself if it is the place for you? Look around and look at people who are succeeding and see if they are in a place where you want to get too?

(WELL ARE THEY, ONLY YOU CAN ANSWER THIS)

Remember that is the place you want to go and it may not be considered the top to some others, but if it is truly making you the person you want to become, and then don’t sweat it! You might already be where you want for you, and only you can decide where and what you want to do, and how fast you get there depends on you and how hard you want to work and the hours you need to put in to Build “The Perfect You.”

Frankie The French Fry Hatches A Plan

December 30, 2008

Frankie saddled up to the bar at the We-Stuff-Em-All Diner, official headquarters of Fat For A New America. He turned to his most portly friend, Bubba the Burger, and launched a tirade. "If we don’t do something now, we could lose all our progress, twenty-five years of expanding and accumulating straight down the drain–if you catch my flow." "Did you call the others?" Bubba asked. "Yeah. Sophie and Bunnie are on the way. I told them we needed an emergency meeting." "What about Mickey?" Bubba continued. "Holy preservatives, I forgot him. Let me borrow your cell." Bubba passed him the phone.

Sophie The Soft Drink and Bunnie The Bun waddled through the front door, followed by Mickey The Malt a few minutes later. The group moved to the corner booth, brainstorm central for all Fat For A New America founders. "We face a potential shrinkage crisis," Frankie began. "We need to bind together and map out a new strategy." "For the love of lard, Frankie, give us a break," Sophie started. "We’ve already captured over two thirds of the entire population, half of them with over 30 pounds each of good ol’, genuine American-made blubber. We’re killin’ `em out there." "You don’t get it, Sophie," Frankie argued adamantly. "Even though we’ve trapped the overwhelming majority, not a single one of `em wants us to stick around-so to speak. If we give them any kind of opening, we’re history." "Not only that," Bubba added, "our enemies the vegetables don’t care. They’re quite happy to be consumed and eliminated without leaving anything behind-no future, no legacy, nothing to show at all." "I never understood that mentality," Mickey piped in. "No vision whatsoever-way too small-minded, if you see what I mean." "Yeah, very thin thinking," Bunnie chimed.

Sprit Does Not Need Approval

Sprit Does Not Need Approval
 by: Arthur Buchanan

This means your higher self does not need approval, how do I know this? Simple everything that God has made is good and if it is all good, then how can any of it that pertains to sprit does it need approval? Sprit is the same stuff that keeps the universe in motion and keeps your heart beating at night while you are sleeping.

The part of you that needs no approval, as it is all that you were supposed to be and that is endless and eternal, which goes on forever more. How does are ego fit in to all this? The ego is evil. Is the ego evil or is it just a misunderstanding of what it is and how it makes us, fools us into misunderstanding it.

Now what does this ego really stand for? The thing makes you proud and boastful and keeps you thinking that you are alone in this world. As if you are all on your own that, you don’t need any help. Now how does this ego seem to take control? Over the years, our spiritual self has gotten lost so to speak and the ego was born of the physical world or the material world.

Bogu Training

December 28, 2008

About four years ago Carl recommended we start using the Bogu during our kumite (sparring practice). This method was developed in Okinawa and then found its way into mainland Japan and eventually to the U.S. where only a few clubs still do this. And even in those clubs, only a few members do it. I know there is other equipment out there that looks similar and I have used most of what’s available. But it does not provide you with nearly the same overall effect that the bogu does. Rules in bogu training ? Any punch, any kick, save foot stomps, a strike to the spine and to the back of the neck. Throws and leg kicking is certainly allowed. Use, dare I say, your commonsense.

What is the training like?

When you fight, you just go and beat the crap out of each other. This is the point. Sure, you look to get that "One Shot One Kill" but you have to train in a way that prepares you for reality. If you train to stop after that first shot- you are developing a habit that will come back to haunt you. You always train three techniques ahead.

Single and Thriving: 5 Secrets For A Happier, More Fulfilling Life
 by: Jack Zavada

If you’re single and dissatisfied with the way your life is going, you can turn things around by seeing your situation from a new, more positive perspective.

Many single people are stuck in a “victim” mentality, feeling as if outside forces are conspiring against them to make them miserable. But to break free of that mindset and begin living a happier, more fulfilling life, you have to be mature enough to accept responsibility for your own destiny.

Accepting responsibility for the way things are going sounds scary, but the fact is that this new perspective is incredibly empowering. It means that you can control your future by how you think and what you do today. While that may seem quite obvious, most people never put that principle into practice. Here are five secrets that can help you break free of your present situation to create the tomorrows you’ve always dreamed of.

1. Live life now, instead of postponing it until you get married.

Seeing the Big Picture

December 26, 2008

Sometimes, in traveling a path, we discover a short-cut, and we reach our destination in less time-and with less effort than we thought, when we began the journey, would be required of us. On the path to self-awareness, however, there are no short-cuts. Personal growth awareness of the person we are in every present moment-is an ongoing lifetime process. The end of one learning cycle is always the beginning of the next.

Growth on any level, for any life form, is a continual process. Our soul’s growth accumulates from lifetime to lifetime within each level of consciousness, and moves with us from one level to the next. It is never a case of “all or nothing,” with our infinite future being permanently defined by the choices we make within a given timespan on a given level of learning; because soul experience for the purpose of growth is the only real objective in life, God poses no limitations - no time limits, no space limits-on our infinite, predestined accomplishment of that objective. Each soul learns-through experience-in it’s own time and on it’s own terms, as does every human being.

Good Night, Sleep Tight!

December 25, 2008

One of the most important things you can do for fat loss, controlling weight gain and for overall health is often overlooked. MORE SLEEP! Yes, you actually need to sleep more to gain less!

A lack of sleep could be contributing to America’s obesity epidemic. A recent Columbia University study found that not getting enough sleep could put you at increased risk for weight gain.

The study, presented at the meeting of the North American Association for the Study of Obesity, analyzed data from 18,000 adults and found that those who slept less than the recommended seven hours a night had an increased risk of obesity. People who slept for less than four hours per night were 73 percent more likely to be obese than those who slept for seven to nine hours. Getting five hours of sleep or less decreased that risk to 50 percent, and getting six hours or less decreased it even more to 23 percent.

While it’s still unclear exactly what causes this increased risk, scientists believe that lack of sleep lowers the amount of leptin your body produces. Leptin is a protein that suppresses appetite and is responsible for telling your brain when your stomach is full. In addition, when you are sleep-deprived, you are less able to make clear decisions and may eat more food than your body actually needs.

What is Driving The Boat?

What is Driving The Boat?
 by: Arthur Buchanan

What is driving the boat? I would have to say you or the person behind the wheel, why then does everyone look back at the wake and think that it some how has control over what or the way you are driving, when overall the wake is not or has not been able to control you while you are driving the boat. Why then would you give it the waves behind you any power over you? That is a great question and one worth answering.

It goes like this when the ego controls your mind you let the tribe tell you what to do and this is when your ego rears it’s ugly head, because this is now your pride, your ego pride and this can at times can be confusing this is why. You were taught to always see what your ego thinks first, now this is very wrong. Your ego is from the material world and to transcend this we must reach the spiritual world and this is when we grow and know that you are driving the boat and the wake does not affect you.
