Recognize the Early Signs of Burnout
September 30, 2009
Most of us are trying to balance work, home, and a family life. We tend not to accept the early symptoms of burnout and carry on our daily lives. In my opinion, living your life isn’t supposed to be that way. If you ignore the red flags, you’ll become gravely ill and your life could come to a complete halt.
To add to the normal day-to-day stresses, what about the poor economy and the war on terrorism? How many of us watch the news and all of a sudden, you get a headache? As much as I find the news to be a source of information, I try not to watch it everyday.
Here are some strategies that I put together that might help you right now:
1. Eat well and exercise. Take vitamins and drink plenty of water.
2. Get your rest. Slow down.
3. Ask for help. Some of us are so self-reliant that we won’t ask for help from our family members or close friends. You can’t do it all, all the time, by yourself.
4. Take care of yourself first before you commit to others.
Iron Supplement

Iron supplement - why iron?
Why people need to use iron supplement? Well, there are many reasons. Iron is very important for our bodies and our health and when you do not get enough iron with your foods, the iron supplement comes to help. Iron is a very important mineral. It is an important component of proteins involved in oxygen transport and metabolism. Many trusted health organizations state that about 15 percent of your body’s iron is stored for your body’s future needs. That stored iron will be used when dietary intake is inadequate.
Iron supplement - when to use.
There are multiple reasons that may require you to use iron supplement. You will have enough iron in you body if you are controlling the amount of iron that you get from food. Meat, fish, and poultry contain iron in them. That iron is easily absorbed by your body. The iron that is stored in plants (for example lentils and beans) is not as easily absorbed by your body as iron from meat and fish. If you don’t intake enough iron with you foods, the iron supplement will definitely help.

Facts about Generalized Anxiety Disorder
by: Arthur Buchanan
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is characterized by 6 months or more of chronic, exaggerated worry and tension that is unfounded or much more severe than the normal anxiety most people experience. People with this disorder usually expect the worst; they worry excessively about money, health, family, or work, even when there are no signs of trouble. They are unable to relax and often suffer from insomnia. Many people with GAD also have physical symptoms, such as fatigue, trembling, muscle tension, headaches, irritability or hot flashes. Fortunately, through research supported by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and by industry, effective treatments have been developed to help people with GAD.
How Common Is GAD?
• About 2.8 percent of the adult U.S. population ages 18 to 54?approximately 4 million Americans?has GAD during the course of a given year.
• GAD most often strikes people in childhood or adolescence, but can begin in adulthood, too. It affects women more often than men.

Weight Loss Surgery: What are the options?
September 27, 2009
To understand how surgical procedures aid the grossly overweight person to reduce their body fat, it helps to first understand the digestive process that is responsible for handling the food we take in.
Once food is chewed and swallowed, it’s on its way through the digestive tract, where enzymes and digestive juices will break it down and allow our systems to absorb the nutrients and calories. In the stomach, which can hold up to three pints of material, the breakdown continues with the help of strong acids. From there it moves into the duodenum, and the digestive process speeds up through the addition of bile and pancreatic juices. It’s here, that our body absorbs the majority of iron and calcium in the foods we eat. The final part of the digestive process takes place in the 20 feet of small intestine, the jejunum and the ileum, where calorie and nutrient absorption is completed, and any unused particles of food are then shunted into the large intestine for elimination.
Smoke
September 26, 2009
I always thought Ecclesiastes was like Proverbs. That’s probably because of the "to every time there is a season. . ." passage. So when a friend of mine read Ecclesiastes from "The Message," I wasn’t prepared for her reaction.
Her first comment was, "It made no sense." I tried to get her to explain that. She couldn’t. She just kept saying things like "It’s so negative. He just keeps saying everything is smoke. It makes no sense." Finally in desperation, she said, "You read it, and see if it makes sense to you."
Now I know a nudge from the Holy Spirit when I see one. So I went the next day and started reading. She was right. It was negative. It didn’t seem to fit in the Bible at all. Depressing is a word that comes to mind.
Throughout the whole book, the writer talks about life as smoke, an illusion. He says it’s pointless because all you do is work and work and then you die. What is the point?
Failure Is Just The Beginning!

Failure Is Just The Beginning!
by: Arthur Buchanan
What do I mean you may be asking yourself? Just what I said failure is the beginning not the end! How you may ask, simple, Failure Is an Event, Not a Person. You can recover from failure and still make it to the top of the hill. YOU CAN DO IT. With failure you can recover and get the prize at the end of the rainbow, which is our happy future and you got there by knowing that failure is an event not a person and the set back of today may very well end up being the Victory of tomorrow.
When you fail, get back up on the horse and try again, the only one that is stopping you from succeeding is you! So let go of the negative flow and go with the Good, the Clean, the Positive and start to build the perfect you that you know you can be and become the person you never thought you’d see!
ZIG ZIGLAR and I quote” FAILURE IS AN EVENT IT IS NOT A PERSON!”
Preparing Your Child and Family for Life With Diabetes
September 25, 2009
After the initial shock of diagnosis wears off and we become more comfortable with administering insulin shots, scheduling blood tests and mealtimes, and carbohydrate counting we have a chance to look to the future. At that point it really begins to sink in what a long-term commitment parenting a diabetic child really is. We now understand we have been drawn into a different lifestyle that will last as long as we are parents. Even when our child is grown up and leaves home we will still be concerned and involved with the diabetes community.
If you are finding that you are having trouble managing your child’s diabetes let me first share some statistics I found so you realize you are not alone.
35-75% do not follow meal plans all of the time 20-80% do not administer insulin correctly all of the time 30-70% do not record blood-monitoring level properly all of the time 23-52% do not provide adequate foot care all of the time 70-81% do not exercise adequately all of the time
Movement, Muscles and Machines
September 24, 2009
Sport encourages the integration of the whole organism because it is necessary to think as we move and plan ahead. In performing each movement in response to the run of play, we use mechanisms that nature evolved for the purpose of survival in a hostile world. Sport is today’s equivalent of the hunting, fighting and avoidance of predators that kept our ancestors alive. The skills developed in our past are essential in today’s sport; accuracy, speed, strength and intelligence are all requirements for success.
We have come to believe that the stronger a muscle the better, without a thought to what we actually do with a stronger muscle. I am not advocating we should do nothing, or that all exercise is harmful. The important issue is why we exercise and what is it we hope to achieve? If we want to get fit, ask the question - fit for what? When did you last review your objectives for devoting so much time and effort to its pursuit?

Buyer Beware: Shampoo Selection Tips
by: Julia Brown
How is one supposed to know which type of shampoo to choose from if there are a hundred brands all scrambling to get the attention of a million consumers? Easy. Listen to the only harbinger of wisdom that best knows what is good or bad for its health - your hair. Though the hair is - technically - a bunch of dead skin cells, they have varying characteristics. Keep reading to find out how to get the best out of shampoos being offered in today’s market, and more importantly, how to avoid shampoos that may actually damage your hair, or make hair fall out.
1. First things first, know your hair.
It is best to get intimate with it. The hair is literally called one’s crowning glory for a reason, it is on top of the head and is the first thing one usually touches first thing in the morning. Haven’t touched your hair today? Go ahead and do so now. Does it feel thin? Is it oily? Is it dry? Full? Coarse?
Permed hair will usually need a shampoo that is specifically manufactured for regularly styled and / or chemically treated hair.
